after considering it Executive Council has advised that it should be dealt with by means of an ex gratia award approved by Resolution in Legislative Council and that, subject to your approval, the draft Resolution attached at Enclosure 2 should be introduced into Legislative Council. I have accepted the advice of Executive Council in this matter and your approval is now sought accordingly.

8. To summarize, I should be grateful to receive your approval to introduce into Legislative Council

(a) the Resolution at Enclosure 1 in respect of the Government House Staff (Allowance) Regulations,

1950, and

(b) the Resolution at Enclosure 2 in respect of the ex gratia

award of retiring benefits to House Boy Tsang Lin, who was invalided with effect from 3rd April, 1949.
